Editorial Reviews
From School Library Journal
Grade 1-3-Those ever-popular bovines are back in another mixed-up adventure. It's Valentine's Day, and Moo's penchant for composing rhymes inspires her to create "love poems for the needy!" So she and Minnie become cupids to go. Of course the cows just happen to have the right outfits packed away in the barn. Clad in tights, tutus, and wings, and armed with bows and arrows and Moo's poems, they are off to bring love to the barnyard. Their suction-cup arrows do no damage, but the poems do not always end up in the correct hands, claws, or hooves. When Farmer John determines that it is the cows sending the Valentine poetry, his wife leads him away for some iced tea saying, "Oh, John,- Cows don't write poems." As with Minnie and Moo's other escapades, these animals are oblivious to the havoc they wreak. Chock-full of humorous verses and silly illustrations, this title is sure to be a hit with newly independent readers.

From Booklist
PreS-Gr. 2. This I Can Read book reintroduces those two silly cows, Minnie and Moo, this time on a Valentine's Day mission to spread love and cheer. Naturally, things don't go quite as planned. After writing a Valentine's Day poem for Minnie, Moo decides that she would like to write love poems for everyone in the barnyard. Soon, the cows are using a bow and arrow and shooting notes everywhere, some suitable, some not. When the farmer's wife gets a poem meant for the turkey ("I love the way you wobble when you waddle . . . ") and her husband gets one for the "old goat," hard feelings briefly ensue. The pictures aren't as well executed here as they were in previous books, and though this has some very funny moments, it's a little convoluted in spots, especially for new readers. But Minnie and Moo remain a jaunty duo that still elicits giggles at a glance. Ilene Cooper
