From School Library Journal
Grade 2-4?This experiment and discovery book is also an alphabet and poetry book. For each letter, there is a poem related to the science activity or principle on the facing page. Projects include testing the sense of smell, making fingerprints, having fun with magnets, making glue, testing whole eggs to determine whether or not they're cooked, etc. Some of the activities have appeared in many other collections, such as putting celery in colored water and making a xylophone. The presentation is uneven. While some entries are clear and intriguing, others will confuse children because of the brevity of the instructions and/or the small size of the colorful illustrations. Explanations of the scientific principle illustrated for each experiment appear at the back of the book. A C-minus effort.?Rosie Peasley, Empire Union School District, Modesto, CA
