Product Description
Private Pilot hailed the previous edition as "an outstanding source for anyone interested in getting a pilot's license." Eichenberger's update of this classic guide to getting your pilot's license keeps all the practical wisdom and humor of the popular original, and adds up-to-the-minute information on the latest changes in federal regulations and requirements, plus advances in aviation. Covers training considerations ... flying the airplane ... weather ... the examinations ... and aspiring pilots' most frequently asked questions, along with a great deal more concrete advice.

From the Back Cover
Practical, straight-to-the-point advice and the wisdom of experience, plus an easy, readable style, have made this reference the one more aviators turn to than any other.

The new Sixth Edition keeps all the clarity, comprehensiveness, and humor that makes Your Pilot's License a classic, and adds up-to-the-minute information on the new requirements mandated by FAR 61...the questions most frequently asked by aspiring pilots...recreational pilot certification...private pilot certification...biennial flight review...even glider and soaring ratings.

If you want the absolute best guide to the critical insights and key flight tests that different certificates demand, as well as the training requirements, privileges, and limits for each, then Your Pilot's License is for you.

4.0 out of 5 stars Introduction to Flying & Pilot's License, September 1, 2003
By J. Straub (Cleveland Heights, OH United States) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Your Pilot's License (Paperback)
Your Pilot's License provides a simple, concise guide to getting your license to fly. Eichenberger describes both how to actually fly a plane as well as the process by which one learns how and is licensed to do so. Eichenberger's experience as a flight instructor (CFI) clearly shows, as much of the book reads like a flight lesson.

The book is a must-read for anyone thinking about taking up flying or who has just started taking lessons. Not only does is summarize what to expect, it also provides a wealth of knowledge that should help make your lessons more effective. Eichenberger explains complicated concepts in simple English. Particularly helpful to the beginning pilot will be his explanations of how lift works and how to "fly the box" taking wind into account.

For those who have been flying for a period of time, the book offers very little (other than perhaps nostalgia about those first flights). If you don't already know what is covered in this book (and in some areas, significantly more than is covered) you really shouldn't be flying a plane.

For those looking to get their flight instructor certificate, this book holds particular value as it will help you learn how to teach your students! It is also very helpful in remaining us how if felt "from the other side."

5.0 out of 5 stars Highly recommended!, October 28, 2000
By A. N. Teodoro III (River Edge, NJ, USA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Hello flyers! Greetings from student pilot from Teterboro Aiport. After reading this book from cover to cover, I feel that I have acquired sufficient knowledge to continue in my flying lessons without a cloud in my head. It filled in the blanks and I wish it went furtehr than 300 or so pages. The book's anecdotal style makes general aviation easier to understand. Certainly, in my case at least, it was more enjoyable to read than a manual on flight with test questions after every chapter. This is not that kind of book, to its benefit. I learned a lot from this book, and I feel that I will have an easier time in my flying lessons because of it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Your Pilot Licence - Great Beginners Book, April 1, 2001
By Joanne NOtt (Lorain, Ohio USA) - See all my reviews
Greeting from Cleveland (BKL) Airport. This is one excellent book. It is a book if you are thinking about starting flying. It goes into detail but it is real basic. It has help me out greatly, even after 60 hours of flying. Good Luck.
