Product Description
The ultimate air pollution control problem-solver kit

Now you can solve virtually any air pollution control (APC) problem that comes your way--all you need is this hands-on guide. It's loaded with all the problem-solving tools, troubleshooting tips and advice you need to facilitate every aspect of APC management, design and regulatory compliance.

You get crystal-clear, step-by-step guidelines for designing and selecting APC equipment. . .specifying and purchasing APC systems. . .setting air pollution control policy. . .adhering to the Clean Air Amendments of 1990. . .maintaining compliance documentation. . .and much, much more. This is the one source to turn to for fast, accurate information on any of the major APC system technologies and methods--cyclones, media filtration, particulate scrubbing, electrostatic precipitators, absorption separators, thermal oxidizers, you name it!

From the Back Cover
Here are all the technologies, techniques, and tips you'll need to maintain air pollution control efficiency. If you're an engineer or technician involved in the control of air pollution and product recovery, this reference can give you a comprehensive, working knowledge of the APC equipment and systems needed to solve a wide range of pollution problems. Written in a simple, straightforward style, with a minimum of math-based theory, Industrial Air Pollution Control Systems provides you with useful insight into: Media Filtration and cyclones--two of the best methods for particle/gas separation in process systems; Particle scrubbing, electrostatic precipitators, and thermal oxidizers--all primary APC methods; Fans and blowers--major components of virtually all APC systems; The particle and basic gas physics needed to understand the design and selection of APC equipment; Testing methods and protocols used for gathering design data and showing compliance with environmental regulations; The selection process of APC systems--including how to specify and purchase a system; Industrial ventilation--the system that gathers contaminated gas and delivers it to the APC equipment; Basic methods and standards of APC equipment construction. With this information, you'll be able to choose and operate the right APC technologies for specific problems and avoid costly inefficiencies, in any kind of industrial plant.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent and practical book for Air Quality Engineers, May 31, 2008
I have owned this book since publication. I am a practicing engineer who designs air quality control equipment and over 20 million dollars worth of equipment that I have designed is in use in industry. This book is one of two references that I rely upon to do my job ("Sources and Control of Air Pollution" by Heinsohn and Kabel being the other). The explanations are thorough and practical. The book is very well written and easy to read.

I and the engineers I work with call this "The Book of Warnings." The reason we do so is that it seems that every time we encounter something in our equipment design that is not behaving as expected we go into this book and learn what we did wrong -- that is, the warning was in this book and and we could have prevented the trouble if we had only paid closer attention to this text.

In summary, this is an awesome book that is both an educational tool and a very practical everyday reference for air quality control equipment design.
