Editorial Reviews

Product Description
"Essential insights from a master of the sport."Outside Magazine

This outdoor classic, praised by major climbing magazines, is one of the leading guides to a sport that at least 7 million Americans enjoyed last year. The Complete Climber's Handbook is now fully revised to ride the crest of climbing's surging wave of popularity.

From the Back Cover
"Essential insights from a master of the sport."--Outside

This comprehensive four-season manual, a revised and expanded edition of the popular Climbing Rock and Ice, covers both techniques and equipment for all facets of this increasingly popular sport, including rock climbing, ice climbing, and indoor climbing walls.

The Complete Climber's Handbook provides all the in-depth information climbers from beginners to experts need, from how to lead a climb, detailed instructions on movement, anchoring systems, and safety, to sidebar accounts from experienced climbers. Author Jerry Cinnamon has taught climbing for years and originally developed this book for a college class on mountain leadership. He knows what questions climbers ask, and he has the answers.

What reviewers said about the first edition:

"I wish I could give each [new climber] a copy."--Rock and Ice

"A fine introduction to technique with many clear drawings and lucid description."--Book News, Inc.

"One of the better new how-to-do-everything books we've seen. All the basics, and more."--Climbing

4.0 out of 5 stars Material was complete and well presented, April 30, 2002
By A Customer
I found the material to be broad in scope, well covered, and nicely presented. I still refer to this text from time to time as a refresher reference even after climbing for two years.

5.0 out of 5 stars A complete learning tool, October 1, 2005
The book contains good material for learning and is a good reference to go back to again and again. I like that it covers rock as well as snow and ice climbing in one package. Good photos and clear drawings illustrate points.
