4.0 out of 5 stars A Good Course Warm Up, June 21, 2004
By A Customer
Farsi is a tough language to learn and 100 Words provides a good start for those who have no exposure to the language. I think there could have been more common words chosen for the first 100 words a person learns in the language, but the book is good at teaching your brain how to commit these words to memory with flashcards and exercises where you match the phonetic, English, and Farsi form of the word. For anyone who is going to take a course in Farsi, I would definitely recommend this book as a pre-course, get your feet wet, kind of study aid. It takes a fun approach to learning the language and you'll feel a lot better starting a course with some words and the alphabet already under your belt. For those of you doing self-study or looking to travel, you will not find use for this book. This book has you learn words, not phrases and you'll likely be disappointed. But if you are looking to get a headstart on a course or just deciding whether you want to learn Farsi, this is a good place to start.

2.0 out of 5 stars Well worth the money., January 28, 2006
As a beginner in learning Persian, this book has been a lot of help. I like the simplified approach, the flash cards, the repetetive exercises and the activities that emphasize the 100 words. This book also helped me learn the complex Persian alphabet which is so different from the English alphabet. Granted 100 words is a small vocabulary in any language - but it is 100 words I did not know before! If you are above a beginner in Persian, this probably is not the book for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Funnest way to learn Farsi, November 9, 2006

This book is absolutely perfect for beginners such as myself. You immediately learn practical everyday vocabulary that you can really use. The exercises are actually fun! You'll feel like a kid again doing the exercises. It's repetitive enough to allow you to retain the learned vocabulary and the exercises are diverse enough so it's not boring.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good start to learn Persian (Farsi)
An easy to understand book that let you learn Farsi from the beginning. The system of the cards at the end of the book is very good and you can make a play of it.
