1.0 out of 5 stars Too bad I can not give ZERO stars!, August 7, 1999
By A Customer
This was the worst book I have ever read on using any computer program in my 20+ years of information management. I was simply looking for an easy reference book that would quickly point me in the right direction on the interface between Access 97 and the Internet. Instead, it's just a regurgitation of the "Help" documents already included with the Access 97 program. The most unbelievable part is that this author keeps promising to explain more in the next chapter - imagine my surprise when there was NO next chapter on the subject! This book is going back to Amazon. What a waste of time and shipping money. Save yourself some time and money and read the help info already included with Access 97. What a joke!

5.0 out of 5 stars Like reading a great mystery novel...hard to put down!, February 6, 1999
By A Customer
Before reading Mr. Neibauer's book, I had "winged it" when it came to Access. Sure, I created forms for data entry, which created my databases and subsequent kindergarten-like reports. This book is full of techniques and clues I wish I had had before I took flight. Like a great novel, once I started reading it and following the exercises, I couldn't stop. Six hours later I feel like I have mastered the art of database management. Thank you Mr. Neibauer for making it so easy!

3.0 out of 5 stars Read it, but think for yourself also, May 15, 2000
By Carbonero (Gainesville, VA USA) - See all my reviews
The biggest problem is that this book shows you how to do things but it does not really explain how things are done, so if you need to apply the knowledge to a more real world problem, like the ones I face at work, then it becomes hard to extrapolate and reason to get it to work the way you want it to. The book is a quick start, and you know when you buy a product like this, that it will not go into too much detail, so I was not expecting that much from the book, hence the 3 stars.

It will get your hands dirty, it will not teach you how to create those databases that will make you a millionaire or give you that 6 digit salary. Enjoy!

3.0 out of 5 stars Good Reference Book - doesn't cover any vb
I was hoping for some information on vb with access. But, over all it will make a good access reference book.
