Editorial Reviews

Review

"It is beautifully laid out and has excellent photographs and drawings .... an excellent text for the intended audience - residents in ophthalmology.' - American Journal of Ophthalmology

"It is difficult to fault this excellent book. It has become the standard text for trainee ophthalmologists, both in Britain and elsewhere, and can also serve as a comprehensive reference book for practicing ophthalmologists." - British Journal of Ophthalmology.'

This magnificent text has updated clinical information with splendid new pictorial material, which is presented in an even more appealing and logical layout. The almost un-improvable has been improved and represents a must for all training ophthalmologists and a highly desirable up to date reference (at the very least) for the senior ophthalmologist. - Eye News

Nothing has come close to superseding it in 10 years. If you only ever buy one textbook this is the one. - Optician

This is now virtually a standard text for ophthalmological features, on account of the lavish and super colored illustrations.' Optical Practitioner'

This beautiful book has become the standard textbook of ophthalmology for those studying for examinations.' British Orthoptic Journal -- British Orthoptic Journal --This text refers to an alternate Hardcover edition.

REVIEW OF LAST EDITION:

"It is beautifully laid out and has excellent photographs and drawings - an excellent text for the intended audience." -- American Journal of Ophthalmology

"It is difficult to fault this excellent book." -- British Journal of Ophthalmology

BMA Awards 2008 - Highly Commended

"A breathtaking exposition of what clarity can do to unlock an apparently obtuse and opaque subject: wonderful drawings, photographs and other illustrations. This essential reference text greatly facilitates the understanding and practice of modern clinical ophthalmology."

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb learning tool, July 7, 1999
By A Customer
I bought the first edition of this book in 1984. It was superb then and hard to imagine it could be improved. The fourth edition shows what can be done by a knowlegable ophthalmologist who has carefully thought out how to make learning the topic as easy as possible. Having been in practice for over a decade, I know that the photos in the book really do give a realistic representation of an actual patient. The text is comprehensive and explains each clinical condition completely but not verbosely. I have really been stunned by the excellence of this book and I can't recommend it highly enough.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent resource, July 9, 2008
By Cel (Norway) - See all my reviews
I used this book constantly as a reference during my optometry studies. It's an excellent resource and has quite a bit of detailed information about the conditions it describes (and it is not to blame for any shipping woes someone might have had ;) )

5.0 out of 5 stars A Fantastic tool to have beside you !, August 16, 1999
By A Customer
After 2 years at university, you tend to rely upon certain sources for inspiration to carry on. This book was designed to teach and entertain symbiotically. The new format leads the reader into a pattern of thought that they can use in clinical practice. A must, to further your knowledge.
