Editorial Reviews
From Library Journal
The founder of the Sjogren's Syndrome Foundation and her physician have updated their Sjogren's Syndrome Handbook (Sjogren's Syndrome Foundation, 1989), resulting in an easy-to-read source of information on this autoimmune disease. Related to lupus, scleroderma, and rheumatoid arthritis, Sjogren's syndrome is an incurable disease of unknown cause, affecting women more often than men. The updated work provides comprehensive information for the recently diagnosed and their families. In addition, healthcare providers unfamiliar with the disease will find the chapters on medical workups and systemic effects useful. The chapters are written by different medical specialists, including physicians, dentists, and pharmacists. Very little nontechnical information on this disease is available elsewhere, recommending this much-needed and well-done update to public and academic libraries.?Elizabeth A.
