4.0 out of 5 stars Recipes for Tired Teachers, November 30, 2000

This is an overall great "idea" book for the ESL classroom. It is basically a book of activities for each different aspect of language teaching. It devotes entire units to more difficult-to-teach topics such as developing listening skills. Most of the activities are extremely interactional and would enhance student's communicative abilities, either directly or indirectly. This book is a great resource for finding just the right activity for your lesson plan. All activities are also easily adaptable for level and for subject area.

5.0 out of 5 stars Useful Resource, May 15, 2004
Recipies for Tired Teachers is a book filled with lots of activities for the English language classroom for students who are studying English as a second language. The activities here are not short activities. They generally range from 30 minutes to 1 hour in length. This can be a good thing or a bad thing depending on your requirements. If you're looking for short warm-up ideas to begin class with, this book is not a good source. Also, if you have a tightly planned curriculum, you may find it difficult to fit these activites in. I find that these activities are good when you have to teach a class unexpectedly and you need a quick plan. Most of these activities can be stretched to a whole hour. Be warned though. These activities are for fairly high level students and include a lot of discussion and story-making ideas. If your students are mostly low-level students, you may not find this to be very useful. If your needs call for long activities for high-level students, this is a wonderful book.

What tired teachers need is a fabulous salary! Not a book. With a fantastic salary motivation is brought about. What tired teachers need is to give one class a week and earn 10 thousand dollars for that class. Then a class will be well prepared and the teacher will be able to make sure students' needs are well catered for.
