4.0 out of 5 stars Great Intro to Flash, December 12, 2002
By A Customer
As a new "web designer" i found that this book was not threatening like the other techy books. If you have no understanding of Flash MX this is a great way to start and I highly recommend it. If you plan to make simple animation this book has got you covered , but if your like myself you will have to purchase a few more books to make flash show its true colors.

1.0 out of 5 stars For absolute novices only, October 6, 2004
I usualy rely on the Visual Quickstart guides to get me "up and running" on software I'm unfamiliar with because they start out slowly with brief introductions to the programmes' interface and move quickly onward. In this guide the first 240 pages are basically useless unless you've never used any image editing or illustration software before (or possibly ever used a computer). This would normally make it ideal for novices, but frankly, most will be disapointed with what little they will actually be able to do with the software after digesting the whole book. If you are considering buying this book don't do so unless you plan to purchase the corresponding "Quickpro" guide as well. If you have any experience with Illustrator, Freehand, Director, or even Non-Linear editing packages you shouldn't bother with this one at all.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Helpful, March 19, 2003
By J. Decelles (North Chelmsford, MA United States) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I bought this book to go with a class I took in Web and Graphic Design. Everythign is layed out clearly in te book and its easy to follow and read. Most manuals are hard to read cover to cover, but this one youc an do that instead of just reading the section youa re trying to learn. The book is a great reference to have around when you are workign in Flash and can't rememeber some small thing.
