Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com Review
Electronic Commerce: A Manager's Guide, by online specialists Ravi Kalakota of the University of Rochester and Andrew B. Whinston of the University of Texas at Austin, is a thoroughly researched evaluation of the management and technology issues relevant to this increasingly vital and rapidly changing field. Designed as a companion to the pair's earlier Frontiers of Electronic Commerce, this volume highlights customer-to-business, intrabusiness, and business-to-business transactions with practical examples and the authors' authoritative opinions.

Product Description
Electronic Commerce is a compact illustration of the issues and environment of electronic commerce. This book is designed to prepare business decision makers for the "new" economic model of electronic selling and buying, and describes what challenges are to be met. The authors emphasize the challenges and opportunities of conducting business on the information superhighway.

5.0 out of 5 stars Folks, give it the credit that's due, March 9, 2000
This is an excellent book, and noting the recent comments let's not forget that this book was written in 1996. At that time it shaped many of the newer ideas that have given us the "New Economy" today. Like the author's new book "e-Business," this book was THE defenitive guide in its heyday. I used it in a graduate level electronic commerce course in my school and still have it on my shelf--with a protective plastic cover on it! This is not a quick read but a long-term keeper. Strongly recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars Electronic Commerce concepts are handled very well., November 2, 1999
Step by step, this book explains each Electronic Commerce concepts in a very easy way. Good for anyone who wants to learn more about this topic, and if yours skills are not technical, there is no problem, Kalakota and Whinston are going to explain you very well. And for the technical people, don't worry, there are a lot of chapters (like Electronic Payment Systems) that are very useful in order to understand some things behind this hot topic.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book: Best book on Electronic commerce, May 6, 1997
By A Customer
I really liked the way the authors described the management issues in electronic commerce. This book is definitely among the first that looks at the internals of electronic commerce from two perspectives: Customer-to-Business: online banking, retailing and publishing Intra-Business: supply chain management, customer asset management, manufacturing and logistics. Definitely recommend the book to anyone who wants to know about E-commerce.
