Product Description

With over 2100 texts published, the Persepolis Fortification Texts in Elamite, transcribed, interpreted, and edited by the late Richard Hallock, already form the largest coherent body of material on Persian administration available to us. Essentially, they deal with the movement and expenditure of food commodities in the region of Persepolis in the fifteen years down to 493.

3.0 out of 5 stars Your Visitors Will Be Impressed, November 15, 2001

(REAL NAME)
This is the kind of non-readable but impressive looking book which I leave on the coffee table for strangers to comment on, right under the Lloyd Llewelyn autographed treasury. The tablets of Persepolis are of course the original cache of cuneiform writing, comparable to (and of course older than) the oracle turtle bones of China.

You'll not be able to read them but they're nice to look at and forty bucks is cheaper than a trip to the University of Chicago museum on 57th Street where these are housed.
