Review

"The Handbook for Sound Engineers is a powerful reference book because of the 16 authors that wrote the 37 chapters. Such authors as F.Alton Everest, Don Davis, Ken Pohlmann, David miles huber and Dr.Gene Patronis and an interesting chapter by Chip Davis on the recording setup of some popular CD's make this book a wealth of information." - Sound & Video Contractor, April 2000

5.0 out of 5 stars anything and everything an audio engineer needs to know!, September 8, 1999
By A Customer
This book has everything that an audio engineer would need to know, and nothing you don't. It gives you all the technical information that you could ever need while not being so pretentious as to tell you how you should use it. It is a terrific reference and will give you insight as to how some engineers chose to use thier tools.

3.0 out of 5 stars the classic reference - but now too old - double classic?, May 14, 2009
i have used this book in the *past*
it was the classic with all the info you coudl ask for
back then it was 5stars plus
now however
it (2nd edition) is badly dated and barely worth 3 stars
(it would be fewer stars except that it is so complete and some things do not change like the basics of acoustics and hearing etc)

why cant i find the third edition listed at amazon ?
and now there is a rumored 4th to come out real soon now
.
wait for the 4th
if they don't gut it like happens to so many later editions
to save money by making it smaller
then
buy it and enjoy it for a long time
it will serve you well
.

5.0 out of 5 stars If you're in pro-audio, get this handbook!, April 28, 2000
This handbook is the best I've every read. There are some good books for pro-audio, but this one cover everything. Not only audio, but image projection as well.
