Editorial Reviews

Review

“I’ve met a lot of golf freeks in my day, and Steve is as freaky as they come. I’ve had the pleasure of teeing it up with Steve at exotic locales from Ireland to Palms Springs, and you can bet your life I never had to pay a cent for golf when I was with that freek. If you think most golf writers are boring eggheads, you’re right. That’s why you should read Golf Freek and witness an exception to this rule. Finding out what it is like to be the golf adventurer that Steve Eubanks is will bring you laughter, joy and especially envy. Steve’s passion for golf is very real, and Golf Freek is a great read for anyone who has dreamt of traveling the world as a golf VIP. And who has not? If you just can’t pass a golf course without a need to tee it up, you need to get to know Steve Eubanks, whose obsession for the game is matched only by the lengths he will go to avoid paying to play it.”

–Larry Olmsted, award winning golf and travel writer, the author of Golf Travel By Design, and co-author of Fairways: America’s Greatest Golf Resorts.

“If you’ve even known a golf addict (or are one), you’ll love Golf Freek. Steve Eubanks’ tale is a combination of chutzpah and hilarity; at bottom, his adventure is every real golfer’s dream.”

–Susan Reed, Editor-in-chief, Golf for Women magazine

1.0 out of 5 stars Another bad golf book, July 12, 2007
A horrible book. Author is nothing but a self absorbed name dropper. Even the chapters that deal with the Wounded Warrior project digress into self aggrandizement. One really outrageous moment is the episode where the author and pal steal a sign from a course in PA. The author then reports about another sign from a "Whites Only" country club. He said he wanted it so that the "old bastards would have to pay to replace it." Are you kidding me? You're trying to say you struck a blow for civil rights by stealing an offending sign? If you were so offended, what were you doing playing the course in the first place? Just plain gross, another in a too long line of silly, self absorbed, golf narratives. Yuck
