Editorial Reviews

Product Description
"Community 101" is a carefully reasoned and passionately argued plea for the church to fulfill its essential nature and calling.

From the Publisher
Authentic community is essential if the church is to remain true to its God-assigned mission. As the title indicates,* the two interrelated concepts of community and oneness are presented in this book. Gilbert Bilezikian lays a biblical foundation for this call to community by showing the centrality of community in the sweep of salvation history - its loss in the Fall, its reclamation through Christ, and its ultimate realization in the New Jerusalem.

Bilezikian proceeds to describe how community can be expressed in the daily life of the church, from small groups to various forms of ministry to church leadership. Focusing on oneness, this book presents a paradigm that can renew the vision of the church in this postmodern society and confirm the authenticity of its message.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best book written on church community, June 13, 2003
By Skyleia (Sydney, Australia) - See all my reviews
This book was written in 1997 and would still have to be the best book written on church community. A Biblically functioning community is not stagnant, boring, restrictive or judgemental. Read this book and catch a glimpse of community life that no sane person would ever want to live without. In fact dont just read it - be challenged to not only transform your own way of 'doing' church but transforming the lives of others with the richness found in developing a Biblically functioning community. You will not be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Life Changing, November 13, 2001
By John Daharsh (Fort Collins, CO USA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This book was instrumental in changing how I read the Bible, how I look at Church, how I view women in the Church, how I choose to pursue my life's dreams, and how I live my day to day life.

The level of teaching in this book raises standards for Spiritual writers of our day.

Dr. B lovingly and honestly calls us to rethink traditional views held in churches. Read it with your Bible open, and be ready to be challenged.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book says it all, December 30, 1998
By Mckellin@mediaone.net (Hoffman Estates, IL) - See all my reviews
Community: that's what the church is all about. Community with God and with each other, that's what we were created for and where we find life's true meaning. In this age of dissention and splintering in the Church, we need to move back to the basics of what the church is all about. This book explains the why and how and what we personally can gain from a biblically-functioning community. Once you've understood and experienced it, you'll never want to go back to superficiality.
