Editorial Reviews

From Library Journal
When police officer Stan Shepherd is rushed to the hospital complaining of gastric pains, his horrified friends and family find out that he has been poisoned with arsenic. The situation is especially traumatic for Stan's wife, Celia, whose first husband died after being given arsenic. Although she was acquitted of that crime, local police decide that there is no way two husbands being poisoned in the same way was a coincidence, and Celia is arrested. The number of people who believe in her dwindles. Trying to prove her innocence, Celia finds herself turning more and more to her faith in God to get through her troubles. Blackstock's second mystery in the "Newpointe 911" series (following Private Justice, Zondervan, 1998) is a real page-turner, with some exciting sequences and a truly surprising ending. Libraries looking for mysteries with a strong Christian element should find this book pleasing to most patrons.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ms. Blackstock has done it again, October 15, 1999
By A Customer
Terri Blackstock's novels have got be some of the greatest mysteries I have ever read. Though she may not get as much publicity due to the fact that her books are from a Christian perspective, they are none the less astounding. I loved this book. It was interesting from front to back. You are constantly wondering if Celia will ever get out of the mess that she is in. It also is amazing how Blackstock shows that putting your trust in God is more rewarding than we think it is. A wonderful book and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who likes a good mystery.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow! I couln't put this book down!, October 28, 1998
By A Customer
I have read all of Terri Blackstock's books and have enjoyed all of them. Her mystery books are all but impossible to put down, and this one does not disappoint in this area! I never guessed for a moment who the true "guilty" person was. The book also shows how God is always with us, even in those times where it just doesn't "feel" like He is. A great book, I highly recommend it. I would recommend reading the first book in this series, "Private Justice", before reading this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars TERRI BLACKSTOCK GAINS A NEW FAN!, April 26, 2001
This is the second in '911 Newpointe' series and also the second book I have read by Terri Blackstock. I was a fan after reading the first book in the series but this just confirmed it. I love the suspense and intrigue she puts into her stories. All the ingredients that make up a good suspense/mystery novel are here. The story also shows the importance of friends and of their trust in you. In addition, it portrays the faithfulness and total reliability of God when people can be cold and accusing. A brilliant book.
