5.0 out of 5 stars Roll on the floor, Cry your eyes out funny, May 9, 2001
By A Customer
I've read this book about three or four times now and I can safely say that it is the absolute funniest piece of Church humour I've ever read.

Scratch that. This is THE funniest book I've ever read. The first time I read it, I was rolling on the floor and crying. My wife and I will still sometimes just pick it up and start reading bits from it to each other for a few minutes of hilarity.

I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Your enjoyment will be greatly increased if you've spent time attending an evangelical church. It also helps to know that the book was written by a Brit and includes a number of references to people and practices that may be lost on those not from the UK.

Buy this book. It may not change your life but it'll be sure to give you a much needed break from your read through Calvin's "Institutes".

5.0 out of 5 stars God is nice and He likes you., March 21, 2001
By Lily MacLiam (Georgia, USA) - See all my reviews
Adrian Plass manages to communicate the simple--and most profound truths--while making us laugh at ourselves. This is a book that I read at least once a year. In the midst of all of our "working for the Lord," Plass reminds us that first and foremost, God was us to KNOW Him. After all, "God is nice and He likes us."

5.0 out of 5 stars Honest and Funny Mirror of Real Church Life, June 11, 2000
By Stephan (Germany) - See all my reviews
Honest book. Too direct for some? On my opinion, one of the best contemporary Christian books. It simply describes Evangelical Church Life. In a funny way. But be careful. You should have humour.. In the beginning, I had regarded the book as nearly blasphemous: when becoming a Christian I regarded my Church as perfect and did not want to see the human error we all commit. All my Christian friends like it and it's a good laugh and makes us think. As a Chrstian, a book I do not want to miss.
