Editorial Reviews

Product Description

The Da Vinci Code has captivated millions with its dramatic claims about Christianity. Do the novel and movie unearth explosive facts, or are they merely colorful but inaccurate depictions of ancient events? This first-ever DVD-driven small group study guide stimulates animated discussion over one of today's hottest topics.

From the Back Cover

First as a runaway bestselling novel and then as a blockbuster movie, The Da Vinci Code has fascinated millions. Its allegations against historic Christianity are colorfully portrayed—but are they true, or merely inaccurate accounts of centuries-old myths and heresies? • Has the true historical record been suppressed? • Were eighty different gospels contending for the New Testament? • Was Mary Magdalene really directed to lead the church? • Does a secret society keep Jesus’ bloodline hidden? • Is the divinity of Jesus the fabrication of a third-century church council? • How accurate is the research behind these and other assertions in The Da Vinci Code? Enjoy riveting DVD interviews with noted experts—and prepare for some lively discussions as your group explores provocative issues raised by The Da Vinci Code. Four sessions address the following questions: 1. What Can History Really Tell Us? 2. Can We Trust the Four Gospels? 3. What’s the Role of Women in Christianity? 4. Is Jesus Really the Son of God? This DVD-guided small group forum is designed for use with an accompanying participant’s guide that includes discussion questions, sidebar information, background material, Bible verses, and relevant quotes. Each session includes interviews with experts and concludes with facilitator Lee Strobel’s perspective. Also available: Discussing the Da Vinci Code Participant’s Guide

4.0 out of 5 stars 4 stars., August 7, 2006
By Huntress Reviews (United States) - See all my reviews
**** For three years, one book has caused an almost infinite number of arguments; the Da Vinci Code. There have been quite a few books written dissecting it, and the number of web pages doing so would boggle a google search. If you have read the book and looked at the counter arguments at all, then this guide will help you lead a discussion on the subject effectively. Points are made clearly, in a linear fashion, and the appendixes are actually useful, unlike those found in many books. Even if you have no interest in the debate, there are good points made that might be intriguing. ****

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Content, August 21, 2006

(REAL NAME)
The DVD is full of excellent content, good filming on location, and well done technically. The discussion material can be a little long with some repetition. A group study requires purchasing additional participant books.
