Although the successful teaching of literacy is characterised by good quality oral work, speaking and listening is not included in the National Literacy Strategy Framework and the "Literacy Training Pack" does not address the issue. About the Author
Roy Corden is Reader in Language and Literacy in Education at the Nottingham Trent University. He has worked in primary, middle and secondary schools. He has been a co-ordinator for the National Oracy Project and an English consultant for the School Curriculum and Assessment Authority.
