Product Description

A connection to his past awaits Ryan Cawdor as the group takes a mat-trans jump to the remnants of California. Brother Joshua Wolfe is the leader of the Children of the Rock--a cult that has left a trail of barbarism and hate across the ravaged California countryside. Ryan and his compatriots must survive the battle rituals prescribed by the cult and escape the misguided wrath of their enemies, the Mescalero Indians, in order to continue their journey across the wastelands.

3.0 out of 5 stars Love the series but this one missed the mark., July 29, 1999
By A Customer
I have been an avid Deathlands reader for many years and for James Axler to go out this way for his last book was a bit typical deathlands read. I liked the story o.k, but you would think the writer would go out with a bang - instead he seemed to slink away quietly. Too bad from someone who brought this series to the top of post-holocaust reading. Ryan and the group are just too darn trusting which in this world - will get you killed! How come they just eat or drink anything that the bad guys give them? Come on Mr. James, you know you want to come back and give us a superb adventure story sometime. Never say never!

3.0 out of 5 stars I think that it could use some more happy times in it., March 28, 1999
By A Customer
I find myself getting lost in his books, and really enjoy reading them. I collect as many of his books as I can find, but here in Kansas they're really scarse. When I'm lucky enough to find them;then I buy all that I can. This book kept me interested all the way through, but I do wish he could find some measure of happiness in his adventures somewhere. Keep up with the writting they are great!

4.0 out of 5 stars I really enjoyed the book, decent story line., February 10, 1999
By A Customer
The story line was all right It would be nice if there wasn't so much emphases put on the bios of the group, but that is a small price to pay. I liked the decription of the surroundings and the layout of the land.I hope in the future there might be a crossover with or even a small hint to the surviolist series maybe they (Ryan's group) come across the redout of the Doctor. just wishing??

Well, as the last book to be written by Laurence James for the series that he brought to life, it wasn't all that spectacular. Read more
