Product Description

Unabridged. The nuclear blasts at the turn of the millennium have touched humanity with the cold breath of extinction, and the exiles from the centers of power realize that the odds for survival haven't changed greatly under the new order...

A former enforcer for the new lords, Kane found shelter in Cerberus Redoubt, along with the archivist Brigid and fellow magistrate Grant. They know that unseen forces guard an ancient secret, which has thrown a dark shroud over the future. Behind them stands the impenetrable past. But all that changes when they are suddenly catapulted into another reality--and here, as they attempt to remake the future, the enemy races to turn time into a weapon of destruction. (The Lost Earth Saga - Book 1) --This text refers to the Audio CD edition.

4.0 out of 5 stars My First James Axler Book - what a great read, excellent, September 3, 1999
By A Customer
This was my first read of a James Axler book. When I started to read it seemed that the characters had been around awhile and had a long history. I was concerned that I may have to read the first zillion books to understand the atmosphere of the story. But this was not the case, this book can be read as a one of, no need to refer any other book all that is needed for the story is contained within the book. I enjoyed the characters and the storyline. The only criticism was the time travel content, I found it a bit overwhelming at times. But over all I loved it! I am patiently (not) waiting the next book ..... I am hooked..

2.0 out of 5 stars Who wants to read a textbook?, May 6, 1999
By A Customer
I'm really sorry to pan a book in a series I have come to like, but, as a lawyer who has to read altogether too many dry, hypertechnical documents a day, this was a real failure. I feel that the genre is ACTION first and foremost, and the complexity of this series is just simply getting in the way of the action. I am quite capable of achieving suspension of disbelief, and I don't need a textbook on the pseudophysics of time/dimensional travel to do so. Probably 80 pages of this work could have been directed to actions and adventure rather than trying to achieve an unneeded "scientific" basis for the way the characters get where they are going. I know Einstein says no going beyond light speed - maybe he is right but I still want to see Star Wars and won't care a bit about Einstein. Axler - its OK, we got to the new dimension - lets DO something there!!!!!
