5.0 out of 5 stars This Room Service definitely delivers!, February 15, 2006
By Laurie (OH - USA) - See all my reviews

When TV producer Emmaline "Em" Harris is sent to the exclusively seductive Hush Hotel in Manhattan to recruit their famously successful chef, Jacob Hill, to host a new cooking show, it is her last chance to salvage the disaster that her career had turned into. Em and Jacob embark on a red-hot affair, with Jacob showing Em NYC spots that the average sightseer would never even realize exist in the city. Each is entranced by the other and they are combustible when together. Secondary characters are crucial to the story and their stories, while not given the same amount of attention as Em and Jacob, of course, are a very pleasing bonus. When Jacob refuses to do Em's show and her time at Hush comes to an end, she reluctantly returns to L.A., putting thousands of miles between them and their broken hearts.

Jill Shalvis never fails to deliver exceptionally well-written characters and settings, clever, witty dialogue and rich emotion. ROOM SERVICE has all of those things; you will regret reaching the end of this book, despite the warm satisfaction it delivers.

5.0 out of 5 stars ROOM SERVICE by Jill Shalvis, February 13, 2006
Courtesy of Romance Junkies by Connie Spears

The heat in kitchen reaches boiling temperatures. Jacob and Em never cool off. Throw some water on their fires.

Emmaline Harris is a TV producer from Hollywood sent on a mission. She was on her last leg but her boss, Nathan, decided he would give her another chance. They wanted to do a cooking show. Em was to hire a crew, fly to New York, and contact the chef from Amuse Bouche, Jacob Hill. She had one month to accomplish the assignment.

As Em looked around at her surroundings, the colors, patterns, and artwork, she was amazed at the beauty of the Hush Hotel. She was hoping to convince the chef to leave Hush and host his own cooking show back in Hollywood. She got on the elevator punched the button to go to her room, the elevator made a stop on the second floor where a gorgeous man got on. He walked towards Em, took her in his arms, and deeply kissed her. Two women behind him gasped. Em could only think how his lips felt against hers. Delicious, soft, and his tongue was thoroughly inspecting her mouth. His hand held her head in place. The kiss left her weak in the knees. The man thanked her and departed the elevator. Em needed to get a grip on her thoughts, but she just realized the women had called him chef.

ROOM SERVICE has all the ingredients of a good recipe: spicy flirting, delicious touching, and heavy on the aroma of sex. Jill Shalvis is an author who always produces the right amount of spark into the relationships of her characters, and even the secondary ones. This is an author and book to watch out for! I highly recommend ROOM SERVICE to all romance readers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Room Service never sounded better!, April 19, 2009
By Susie (Alabama, USA) - See all my reviews
Room Service by Jill Shalvis is a steamy read featuring Jacob and Em. Jacob is a sous chef at a restaurant in a hotel in New York that caters to indulgences, specifically erotic ones. Em is a Hollywood producer looking for the next big reality show or her job is in jeopardy. Her boss tells her to go to New York and seek out Jacob about staring in a new cooking show. Along with Em come her two assistants and friends, Eric and Liza. There is an interesting secondary story involving them, as well as, a not so interesting secondary storyline involving two of Eric's friends.

Em meets Jacob in a chance encounter in the elevator of the hotel which results a hot steamy kiss between them. It doesn't take long for her to figure out that the man she kissed is Jacob. Sparks start flying. Jacob is a one night stand man, but Em is a commitment type girl. Plus, Em has to tell Jacob why she is really in New York, knowing that he won't be happy when she does. Can Em have both, Jacob and her job?

Room Service is a 5 star read with a different feel in comparison to other Jill Shalvis stories. Her stories are steamy, but this one has a slight erotic undertone to it given the nature of the hotel. Jill Shalvis is just one of my favorite authors no matter what she writes and Room Service proves again why her books are on my automatic buys list.
