You know you're hard up when you have to buy a date... But Annie Davis's big family reunion is looming, and she needs a stand-in man fast or she'll never hear the end of it. Any gorgeous guy will do. Her solution? The drop-dead-sexy man at the charity bachelor auction. His good looks and blue-collar background make him perfect for her! Or is he?

Sean Murphy has a bit of a surprise for Annie. Not only is he not blue-collar, he's actually a sophisticated European entrepreneur, one who's made pleasuring women an art form. And he wants to permanently pleasure Annie! But Sean knows that if she discovers his secret, their wickedly delicious liaison will be over. Lucky for both of them, he's learned enough tricks to keep Annie distracted for a long, long time....

5.0 out of 5 stars Who'd have thought?, July 1, 2008
Who'd of thought a Harlequin Blaze could have held such a wonderful story? The heroine, Annie, attends a charity bachelor auction to buy a date for an impending family anniversary party. The man she had been seeing had turned out to be a lying, manipulative and married (unknown to Annie) man. After telling her mother all about the wonderful man she had been dating, she can't very well show up to her parent's anniversary party without him! Also, she's from a small town and her parents have always feared that when she left to move to the "big city" of Chicago that she would be hurt physically or emotionally. She had to prove them wrong. She bids on a bachelor whose bio lists him as an EMT for the city of Chicago. Unbeknownst to all involved, the bios were mixed up at the printers and the man she bids on is actually an international business man who has a past history of being a high priced male escort. Annie is so taken with the picture of the man (Sean) that she bids $5000 on him and wins. That's when the sparks start to fly. They immediately feel an attraction towards each other. She resists because of her recent disaster with the married Blake and Sean resists because he can see that Annie is truly a nice girl who he feels is undeserving of someone with his sordid past. Needless to say, neither can resist the attraction and a wonderful story ensues. The last several chapters were so poignant and touching. For those who believe a Harlequin can't fully capture an in-depth story and characters, this one will prove them wrong. There is a nice combination of heat and wonderful, compelling story to go along with it. Bravo to Ms. Kelly for a wonderful book. I was actually teary eyed during the last few chapters. If you want a wonderful love story, pick up this book! It's fabulous!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Consistently Good, Twist on Pretty Woman, June 7, 2009
I read "Slow Hands" when I downloaded it for free on my Kindle. It was a quick, fun read (took me a couple of hours) and when I found out there was a sequel, even though I normally never buy "series" books like these, I was intrigued enough to buy it. Glad I did. The sequel was just as good, if not better.

The basic premise is a mixup at a charity auction (started in "Heated Rush"). A paramedic gets placed in the wrong slot with a male gigolo. That's the first book, and it's a good one. At the end of it, there was a blurb asking something like "wonder what happened to the other bachelor?" and I was hooked. So I bought the book.

I don't think this situation would hold up in the real world, but that's what escape fiction is for, so it does the job. The hero is not your ordinary gigolo and the heroine is no prude. I fun twist and quick read. The author is a very good writer and I'm surprised she doesn't have longer books published. Maybe she does and I haven't found them yet. I'll be on the lookout.
