Product Description

It is said that Braden MacAllister, English baron and proud Highlander warrior, can fell an enemy with a single blow -- and a woman with a single kiss. But not Maggie, it seems. For the fire-haired beauty, determined to end the long running feud that rages between their clan and it's common foe, is immune to Branden's attempts to stop her foolishness. But stop her he will, once he gets the meddling minx alone...and favors her with a passionate caress and an irresistible kiss. No matter how she trembles beneath Braden's sensuous touch, Maggie must not yield! As long as this feud continues, the lives of her brothers are at stake. And though Braden is known to have bedded many a lass, he has given his heart to none. But dare she dream that by assuring peace for her clan she may also be claiming the most magnificient Highlander for herself?

About the Author

A Web designer by trade, Kinley MacGregor is the highly praised author of A Pirate of Her Own and Master of Seduction, which received a K.I.S.S. Award and was chosen as a Doubleday Book Club Award and was chosen as a Doubleday Book Club alternate selection. She lives outside of Nashville, Tennessee, in the quiet town of Spring Hill, with her husband, three sons, and assorted pets.

Raised in the middle of eight boys, and currently outnumbered by the Y chromosome in her home, Kinley realizes the most valuable asset a woman has for coping with men is the ability to appreciate them for what they are -- wonderfully different (and having a sense of humor certainly doesn't hurt).

Her goal in life is to share laughter and to bring a little sunshine into everyone's day. "After all," Kinley says, "kindness costs nothing to the person giving it, but it can mean the world to the one who receives it."

5.0 out of 5 stars A beautiful romance, June 22, 2002
I bought this book after I found out Kinley MacGregor is also Sherrilyn Kenyon. Just like with her paranormals, she brings something fresh to a staid, boring formula. I love the way this author's mind works. They way she brings the past to life and can blend it with humor and real emotions.

Braden is a welcomed relief from the alpha jerk hero who has to prove himself. He is a man in tune with his strengths and his weaknesses and I love the way he was able to allow the heroine to grow and discover herself. He was a real hero.

Maggie really touched me. At times I saw myself in her and I could relate to her wanting to save her family. She was a great heroine for Braden without being bitchy or whiney.

The secondary characters are some of the best I've seen. I like the way they weren't background to the story, but were real people who helped bring everything together.

Now I'm off to track down more of Macgregor/Kenyon's books. I can't wait to read them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Quick....buy this book, then hop a flight to Scotland!!!, March 8, 2002
By Glassary (New Jersey) - See all my reviews
I have to run out and get my ticket to Scotland right now.
Need to claim me a highlander!!

Kinley MacGregor has written a wonderful tale.
Full of humor and poignant romance.

Claiming the Highlander tells the story Maggie, who decides that enough is enough. The feud with a neighboring clan has to stop...now. So she enlists the women in her battle against the highland warriors. But what weapon do mere women yield...why the mightiest one of all....simply saying "NO"
NO cooking, NO cleaning....and NO SEX till the feuding stops.

Well the highlanders are outraged, who do these women think they are!!! But the women stand firm...so the men resort to their best hope to sway the women back home.
They send in Braden McAllister, the one man who has never heard "No" from a women.

Sparks fly when Braden and Maggie meet, and it's electric.
The are both so endearing that you cheer on each in their quest to be the victor.

In addition to Maggie and Braden, Claiming the Highlander contains wonderful secondary characters...namely Bradens brothers Ewan, Lochlan and Sin (ooo baby!).

I highly recommend this book, it will make you laugh out loud and wish for your own highland warrior.

4.0 out of 5 stars A fun, sweet, funny read., August 5, 2002
By A Customer
I'd really give this 4 1/2 stars. Kinley McGregor's books are always fast-paced, funny, and enjoyable to read. No exception here. With a similar (but better developed) story to Quinn's "Romancing Mr Bridgerton", it's the story of the plain jane (Maggie) who has loved the handsome charmer (Braden) all her life but has never been noticed by him. Until now. Events throw these two together and both are forced to see the other in a new light - with the help of the darkly charming and sarcastic Sin. I'm sure he will be the subject of the next book and I look forward to it - he's yummy! And I hope that by the time Lochlan gets his story he will be a stronger laird! How could he lose control of his clan so easily? But I digress.

Braden and Maggie are fun and likable. He happily flirts with and charms every woman he meets never interested in anything long term. He has seen that love can hurt and destroy as evidenced by two of his brothers fighting over a woman with tragic consequences. He also vows never to take a wife after seeing his mother's rejection of his half brother Sin as a child.

Maggie has worshipped Braden since she was a child. He seemed to always come to her rescue and has always been kind to her but never saw her as anything more than his best friend's kid sister. But now she is a woman and has taken action that causes Braden to see her as such. She is no longer the gangly young girl - she has developed a uniquely earthy beauty that Braden notices for the first time. He is attracted to her, but this is Maggie - a woman he likes and respects - surely had cannot desire her too! It unnerves him for he can't fall in love - and certainly not with someone he cares about - can he? And Sin challenges Maggie to see past Braden's looks and reputation. Does she truly love the man underneath or does she simply want his attentions just as all the other women do?

Two sweet people who belong together. I enjoyed this book and look forward to the rest of the series.
