From Library Journal
Jensen draws upon her own career experiences as well as the experience of 22 top women executives to provide practical advice on strategies for success. The 22 women interviewed, a small but diverse sample, include Lillian Katz, president of Lillian Vernon Corp.; Mary Kay Ash of Mary Kay Cosmetics; and Sharon Gist Gilliam, budget director for the city of Chicago. Thirty-five percent became president by launching their own business, and they provide insights for would-be entrepeneurs. The interviews provide the basis for suggesting different approaches to the top and how to manage at the top. Other topics discussed include women's management styles, motivating employees, and managing bosses. The book is anecdotal and very readable. Recommended for general collections. Jane M.
