Amazon.com Review
Allegra Steinberg has all the real-life problems of a Hollywood mover and shaker. As the daughter of two prominent producers and the entertainment lawyer for some of the most famous stars, Allegra spends her time supporting those who stand directly in the glare of fame. When Allegra's fragile personal life starts to crumble, however, she finds the courage to turn her attentions to her own life. And when she meets Jeff Hamilton, a sincere, sexy writer, she finds a reason for self-examination. The course of true love soon takes its required detours, and Jeff and Allegra must learn to compromise, grow up, and grow together.

Once again, Steel delivers the goods: a novel full of fame, fashion, and modest passion. Though the story starts off a bit unfocused, and takes minor side trips to investigate unrelated issues, fans should find it a satisfying Steel fix. The Wedding has no pretensions of being anything other than what it is--a perfect read for a plane trip or a long, lazy weekend. --Nancy R.E. O'Brien

From Publishers Weekly
Steel's 48th novel (after Irresistible Forces), about weddings Hollywood-style, gets off to a slow start, but just when the singsong prose and bland introductory details begin to get frustrating the plot picks up steam. Beautiful, brainy lawyer Allegra Steinberg's life is one drama after another--once she gets rid of her boyfriend, philandering dullard Brandon Edwards. Her clients are superstar musicians and actors who phone her at 2 a.m. because they've fallen in love or gotten arrested or think they're being stalked. Her family are superstars, too: Mom is TV director Blaire Scott, Daddy is Golden Globe humanitarian-of-the-year producer Simon Steinberg, and then there's her 17-year-old sister, Sam, a leggy model whose pregnancy throws everyone for a loop. Steel's characters are already over-the-top, but leave it to this clever megaselling author to throw not one but three weddings into the mix. Movie stars Carmen Conners and Alan Carr elope, wig-and-polyester-style, in Las Vegas, and Sam secretly marries Jimmy Mazzoleri, who isn't the father of her baby. The centerpiece of the tale, however, is the big one, complete with an odious wedding planner, for Allegra and Jeff Hamilton, a gorgeous, soulful New York writer. Although Steel's prose is predictable, no one can gainsay her charitable heart. On the far side of tears and melodrama, everyone in the cast is redeemed and paired off--even Jeff's anti-Semitic mother and Allegra's sociopathic biological father, who richly deserve one another. 4.0 out of 5 stars Another Steele winner!, April 5, 2000
As an avid Danielle Steele fan for almost 2 decades, I have to admit I haven't been crazy about her latest novels over the last few years. The Wedding seemed like one of Steele's older books, which I say as a terrific compliment. Steele has written a heartwarming novel, that seems very true-to-life, although a little sappy. I read this book in three days, as it was very difficult to put down and fully engrossing. For all Danielle Steele love story fans, this is a true winner!

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally....one I loved!, April 6, 2000
By Liz Walker (Oxford, Ohio) - See all my reviews
Well the last Danielle Steele book I read was several years ago. I believe it was the Ranch. I was so upset with the ending that I said no way would I read another DS book. Well, I read the information on the Wedding and got it two days ago and DEVOURED IT! It's great! It was nice to see how the family all related to each other and how they supported each other. So I'm back! DS is for me again!

4.0 out of 5 stars The Wedding, April 20, 2000
I have read every Danielle Steel book and have always enjoyed the characters, the story lines and plots---most of her books are easy to read in a short time while being thoroughly entertaining. In The Weddding, I found it to be a great story with very realistic people with true-to-life stresses even if they're the Hollywood crowd. However, I feel that perhaps the author is beginning to focus on quantity rather than quality in writing her novels. The sentences tend to run together, with too many "and" words, they lack descriptive words and phrases--just becoming a jumble of too many words running together. If you can look past that, the story is entertaining. Perhaps she should take more time, write less novels and concentrate more on her grammar, words and style of writing----the way she wrote in her best novels from years ago. I will, on the other hand, continue to buy and read all her books-----they're an escape from reality of life. And I'll always enjoy that aspect of her writing.
