Michael Winship's book is an excellent companion to an excellent series which deserves to be available on DVD. The eight-part series "Television" aired on PBS from January-March 1988. I taped every episode and still refer to them today.
Edwin Newman provides very authoritative and easily understood narration. I have never seen the series on sale. I hope it will be soon because my tapes have just about had it. I had just graduated with a journalism degree when this series aired. The book and series are great study tools for anyone pursuing careers in broadcasting. Those who just enjoy revisiting classic television moments will also appreciate this series.
