5.0 out of 5 stars Very highly recommended , August 27, 2004
While we have often heard that net-working is the key for job hunting, women have traditionally underestimated the value of self-promotion. From finding the perfect job to negotiating a raise, WOMEN FOR HIRE offers practical solutions to getting a job. In a society that encouraging self-effacement, self-promotion can prove quite a challenge for the job hunter.

Learning to present ourselves with confidence, without sounding egotistical has become the edge women need to succeed in the current job market. With WOMEN FOR HIRE, women can get ahead in their careers. From resumes and cover letters, to conversations and interviews, women can learn to get the job, raise or promotion they deserve. Complete with exercises that help turn responsibility to an accomplishment, WOMEN FOR HIRE is practical way to capitalize on previous achievements.

Although stuck in my review pile for months and months, WOMEN FOR HIRE drew my eye recently as I began yet another job search. An unexpected lay off had sent me scurrying for advice, suggestions and hope, all of which I discovered in this remarkable book. Written for the every day woman, WOMEN FOR HIRE confronts the challenges of job hunting with both optimism and practicality. Inspired by the reminder that perhaps a change of careers might be in order, I followed the books advice regarding networking and self-promotion. Within a month networking led to gainful employment with a company that offers great possibilities! A must have tool for any women searching for her first job or the next step in her career, WOMEN FOR HIRE comes very highly recommended.

No working woman should be without this book. I read it from cover to cover, and have gone back again and again to reread the invaluable advice. This book is a real winner. It's written in a comfortable, down-to-earth style and loaded with practical, easy-to-execute tips for finding your dream job. It covers all the bases: networking, researching careers, writing the perfect resume, tips for job interviews, sealing the deal, and negotiating your salary and benefits. Whether you're a woman straight out of college or someone who has been in the workforce for awhile and are looking for a new job, this book is essential reading.

5.0 out of 5 stars New Book on the Block! A real winner!, December 13, 2002
By A Customer
What Color Is Your Parachute is the classic job-hunting tool - good exercises that make you think and hold you accountable. But they are also a bit blah and boring, and the religious commentary is a bit unnerving. There's a new player in the market that's getting a lot of buzz - Women for Hire: The Ultimate Guide to Getting a Job! I picked this up after hearing Regis and Kelly plug the book on their show. It's great! The tone is dynamic and motivating and the exercises focus on clear actions that you can take now. The authors do a great job of lifting your spirits. The anecdotes and feedback from recruiters and other human resource professionals helped me understand what goes on on the other side of the desk once my resume is received. I incorporated a number of the tips and tricks detailed and am now interviewing for my dream job! I highly recommend this book!
