Editorial Reviews

Product Description

This is the final book in the acclaimed series of "cursed brothers, fated mates, prophecies... destiny and magic."(Robin D. Owens)

New York Times bestselling author Jayne Ann Krentz hails Jean Johnson's writing as "fabulously fresh, thoroughly romantic, and wildly entertaining." Now, Johnson returns for the final book in the series of eight brothers destined to fulfill a strange prophecy. As their growing family faces new problems, the worst of those troubles now fall upon Morg, the last of the Sons of Destiny, and on Hope, Morg's foretold bride.

4.0 out of 5 stars Saved the best for last, May 19, 2009
I have slogged through the good, the bad, and the ugly of Jean Johnson's Sons Of Destiny series just because I had to read Morg's story. The polite, charming, nearly all-powerful matchmaking mage of the cursed eight Nightfall brothers. Some in the series I liked, some I tolerated, and some I loathed. But I have to admit I was not disappointed with The Mage. Sometimes looking so forward to a book is just setting yourself up for a let down, but I was happy with Morg's destiny. And while Morganen was done justice in his installment, so was Hope. Of all of the Destined brides, I liked her the most, and thought that she had the best back story as well. It was also good to get the resolution to the whole Nightfall-as-independent nation theme, which began way back in book one, with the arrival of self appointed "Queen Kelly".

Through all of the series, my one major complaint has been my utter revulsion at the character of Kelly Doyle. If it is possible to hate a written character, I am pretty much there. I have found her to be at turns abrasive, domineering, demanding, arrogant, childish, abusive, and ungrateful. And so it is with quite the shock that I must say that I didn't totally despise her in this one, even though she played her usual major role. And while I will never like the character, she did not turn me off of enjoying this finale in the Sons Of Destiny series.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Mage, July 4, 2009
By Toni Hudson "ttbabylove" (Yazoo City, MS USA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
The is the much anticipated ending to a series of 8 books about the sons of destiny. Before they were born, a seer prophesized that in finding brides these brothers would cause the destruction of Katan. So when the brothers were born of which there were eight in sets of four twins Katan exiled them to Nightfall Island for being the brothers prophesized of in the Song Of the Sons Of Destiny. They were isolated and banned from contact with others except for being able to trade or sell items that they needed in order to live, and the government of Katan. Thus they stayed until Morganen decided to forfill their destiny and as the eight brother was his prophesized duty to do so. All the brothers met their matches and fell in love and now it is Morganen's turn. His bride Hope, unbeknownist to even the readers, was originally fron Nightfall and was the last living member of the duchy; which settled the issue of how Nihghtfall could become a soverign contry. This was a good end to a good series although the issues concerning the couple and the issue of soverignty seemed easily solved compared to the other books and all the trouble the brothers and other characters had to go through just to find on how to call the convocation to order it was still a delightful read filled with action and suspense. Well done Jean Johnson.

I was a little disappointed in this last book in the series. I didn't think it had the depth the other ones had. However, I had to finish up the series and I'm glad I did.
