Kindergarten-Grade 3?A collection to delight young dog lovers. The prose selections are accompanied by their original illustrations (for example, Sucie Stevenson's watercolors of Mudge are featured in Cynthia Rylant's "The Kitten"); the other selections are illustrated by energetic watercolors. While many of the offerings are familiar (Frank Asch's "The Last Puppy"; riddles like "What is a puppy after he's five months old? Six months old"), the thoughtful choices, clean type face, and pictures of canines at their most appealing combine to make a book that may well become tattered and dog-eared from multiple readings.?Kathleen Whalin, Greenwich Country Day School, CT
