Amazon.com Review

If you're lucky, at least once you find a "forever friend"--someone you can be angry at one minute and hugging the next, someone you know you'll want to be friends with your whole life. Cady and Nana have that sort of friendship. Nothing could ever stop them from being there for each other--or could it? When Nana is diagnosed with terminal cancer, their friendship undergoes its biggest test. Always a writer to go straight to the heart of matters, Sally Warner wastes no time in bringing readers right into the middle of this inspiring relationship. The subject matter is difficult: no one wants to imagine a best friend dying. Warner conveys Nana's deterioration (and Cady's reaction to it) in a welcome, straightforward, and honest manner, and she does so with such warmth that the real point of this story never gets lost. Sort of Forever is not a morbid novel about death. Instead, Warner has written a joyful celebration of friendship that knows no bounds. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

4.0 out of 5 stars Best Friends!!!!!, October 15, 2003
By Molly Thomas (Falls City, Nebraska, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Sort of Forever (Hardcover)
Sort of Forever is a book about two 12 year old girls named Cady and Nana. They have been best friends since they were babies. These two friends live in the same neighborhood. In their neighborhood, there is an empty lot at the top of the hill. Cady and Nana love this lot. It is a great look out to see the ocean. Nana claims she is going to buy the lot when she get older. Nana soon becomes diagnosed with cancer. She becomes weaker and weaker as time goes on. Cady visits her everyday either at the hospital or at home. School is getting ready to start and Nana will not be going to the 7th grade this year with Cady. She will have a tutor for all of her school work. Cady still visits her everyday after school. Cady's parents become worried about Cady because they don't think she should be around this terrible situation.
I thought this was a fantastic book!!! There wasn't really anything I didn't like about the book. This would be a good read for someone who has a friend who is diagnosed with cancer. It would help you on how to deal with the problem.

5.0 out of 5 stars True Friendship, March 12, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Sort of Forever (Paperback)
If you like to read books of friendship, and reality you should try this book. In this book you will see two very loyal friends deal with life and death. Nana is dealing with cancer, experiencing all of the emotions that go with a life threatening situation. Cady, her best friend is staying by her side, helping her cope with her illness. Cady and Nana show what true friendship is all about, helping each other through profound difficulties. Luckily I've never had to deal with these problems. I felt their friendship helped me see what it would be like to deal with a sad situation. Even though this was a sad book, I really enjoyed it.
