About the Author

Bob Krech has taught grades K-4 during his 21 years of teaching, and currently teaches teaches 2nd grade at Dutch Neck School in Princeton Junction, NJ. He has worked as an assistant principal, curriculum developer, writer, and editor, and is a regular workshop presenter on a variety of topics. In addition, he is a recipient of the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching. Bob is the author of Special Delivery: Putting Math to Work (Cuisenaire, 1998), and two other titles in the Fresh & Fun series:Teaching With Kids¹ Names and Dazzling December (Scholastic Teaching Resources). Bob lives in Lawrenceville, NJ with his wife and two children.

This is a very good resource book for nice activites for Back-to-School days and beyond. The 'Lift-the-Flap Class Album' activity or the 'Classroom Portrait Quilt' are great for the very first day in class, and they might be adapted to older students as well.I also liked 'Qick as a Cricket' and the 'Hands'On Welcome Wreath'. On the overall I am sure I will use this book for years to come, both with my homeschooler, and with my Italian students of Scuola Elementare Statale, and I will use those ideas for first to fifth graders. I am planning to buy the whole series.
