Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly
Hershey's kisses and miniature clowns introduce simple addition concepts in The Hershey's Kisses Addition Book by Jerry Pallotta, illus. by Rob Bolster. For example, a clown starts out on a skateboard juggling three kisses while his friend, holding one kiss, whizzes past, and all four kisses, plus the knocked-down clowns wind up together in a heap.

4.0 out of 5 stars educational and fun!, July 24, 2007
Yes you could look at this and say it is promoting unhealthy eating habits much more however; children respond to the fun nature of using candy. Have fun! I am a teacher and let my children use this at least once a year.

5.0 out of 5 stars My son loved this book!, April 24, 2008
By Michelle (Louisiana) - See all my reviews
I teach math at a university, and I recently picked this book up for my 3 year old when I was at a conference. I thought the pictures did a nice job of illustrating basic addition concepts. My 3 year old loved counting the hershey's kisses and saying the addition facts. He was saying, "one plus one equals two, two plus one equals three, three plus one equals four. I'm learning my math mommy!" He was being introduced to math concepts, and he thought it was fun. That's exactly what I want him to think. Learning math is fun!

3.0 out of 5 stars It's What Kids Love!, August 31, 2001
Kids at the library during read-aloud time love this book. Yes, it's Hersheys, but I think too much is made of the parents issues with commercialism. Kids have interest, of course, in what interests them, and chocolate interests them. As there are no counting books about brussel sprouts, I guess we can't experiment with the dreadful little things, too. The bottom line is that they are fun and hold interest better than other math-skills books.
