A common-sense approach to common problems., January 28, 2000
Dr. Weekes, who thinks and writes very much in the same vein as Dr. Abraham Low, founder of the self-help method know as "Recovery" in the '30s, is a woman and doctor of extraordinary insight into the psychic pain of anxiety and panic. Her book is a wonderfully "easy" read; chapters flow from problem to suggestion simply, warmly, and with much encouragement. As a physician writing to a broad audience, she has the knack of making the reader feel spoken to on a very personal level. Dr. Weekes does not write "down" to her readers, but she is mercifully (and purposely, I suspect) lacking the overly analytical approach and accompanying "jargon" so prevalent in the marketplace today. This is a book to keep handy and to read calmly for the pleasure of Weekes' wisdom. Although her book is so helpful in times of stress, there's no need to wait for the dreaded adrenaline surge. Dr. Weekes is a fine writer who deserves to be read for that reason alone.

If you're serious about helping yourself, BUY THIS BOOK!, September 18, 1998
By A Customer
This is the only book of the "type" you'll ever need. Throw away the others. Whatever it is that's causing you anxiety (agoraphobia included) , there's help for you here - a step-by-step guide to complete recovery. The emphasis is on self-help and self-reliance. You learn to go THROUGH your fears. Accept them, and get on with your life, no matter what. Once you ACCEPT something, you stop being so afraid of it. Gradually, you'll stop being afraid of being afraid. And you'll recover. No pills, no props, no gimmicks, no self-pity. "Face, Accept, Float, Let time pass" - these are the 4 cornerstones of the book. I know they work - because I've applied these principles to my own life, and the improvement is incredible. So, buy the book! It's small in size, and easy to read. Dr Weekes writes in a very understanding manner, and with a truly extraordinary warmth and sincerity . This book is for anyone and everyone - it'll help you cope with even everyday stress. This doctor deserves a gold medal. Keep smiling, and keep fighting. With best wishes to all.

Dr. Weekes saved my life, November 13, 2000
By A Customer
The book "Peace from Nervous Suffering" literally saved my life. I found this book in the late 1960s, after suffering from agoraphobia and panic disorder since my early teens. No one knew what it was in the late 1950s, when I was a teen. I married at 19, then continued to suffer, so I went to a psychiatrist for 2 years. He was a traditional Freudian psychiatrist who gamely nodded his head and said, "And then what happened"? After 2 years, and prescriptions that I rarely took (I was afraid of the side effects), I finally quit the psychiatrist. Shortly thereafter, I found this book and read it. It was like a bright light shined through my mind, when it was all explained to me in plain language. I couldn't put the book down and felt so relieved that I wasn't the only one with this problem. And that I wasn't crazy. Long story, short. I applied her solutions (and she does give the tools to deal and heal), and in my mid 30's I finally licked this problem. I am now 56. Whatever you do, before you hop on the drug bandwagon, read this book first.
