"Murder Afoot in London's Dark World of Pychics and Seances"
In "The Case of Cabin 13," Professor John Darnell and Penny meet in 1912 on the ill-fated Titanic as he investigates mysterious suicides on White Star Line ships. They marry, and in "The Case of Compartment 7" board the Orient Express in 1914 just before World War I for a delayed honeymoon and an investigation of a blood-drenched apparition on the train. Now in London in December 1916 they begin another adventure on the edge of the supernatural.
New Prime Minister David Lloyd George is plagued by guilty dreams of the death of his daughter, Mair. Arthur Conan Doyle persuades him to have a seance at 10 Downing Street, the Prime Minister's residence, to try to reach Mair. During the seance by medium Madame Ilena Ispenska, all lights go out and Lloyd George's other young daughter, Megan, vanishes. Lloyd George is desperate.
Doyle believes the spirit world is responsible, and brings Darnell, the world's first and only paranormal detective and a "psychichologist," into the case. But in a second seance a murder occurs. Darnell must save Megan and solve the murder in a race against time when he learns the very outcome of the war is involved and that Penny's life also depends on his success.
