It has been five years since Brice and Mia divorced (in The Ties That Bind [BKL Se 1 04]). Now that she and Brice's former best friend, Christian, are married and have a daughter, Mia's life is back on track. She finally has her black knight, yet she has fretful dreams about her ex-husband. Brice returns to Atlanta from Germany with his new wife, Kree--another woman who gives up her identity to make him happy, even forced to do so. Brice reaches out to Christian to rekindle their friendship, but when Christian mentions it to Mia, she is adamant about not wanting to meet with the man who abused her. In spite of both women's discomfort, the men are anxious to mend their friendship. To support their husbands, Mia and Kree agree to meet.
