Editorial Reviews

Product Description

  • Microsoft Virtual Server 2005 allows a single server to be divided into several "virtual machines," each running its own environment and operating system, which can even be virtually networked together
  • Written by a key member of Microsoft's Virtual Server product team, this guide shows programmers how they can use these virtual machines to keep their development environment separate from their computing environment, test software on a variety of platforms from a single machine, and test networking applications
  • Packed with real-world examples, the book examines how to install Linux under Virtual Server, create VM libraries, tweak performances, troubleshoot installation glitches, and access the Virtual Server COM API
  • Offers a clear explanation of how to best understand virtual devices, networks, and storage systems and handle debugging in virtual machines

From the Back Cover

5.0 out of 5 stars Complete Coverage. Detailed. - A Book that deserves 5 stars., April 15, 2007
I bought this book the second day it got released. The author has given a complete coverage of the topic. Detailed, from the Basics. Covers the concept both from an IT professional and developers perspective. A must and definitive book for all interested in Virtualization. Over all, a very good book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent desktop reference!, August 2, 2007

(REAL NAME)
This is an invaluable desktop reference for the IT Professional that has to administer a Virtual Server 2005 installation and its virtual machines.

There are lots of examples and code organized by topic that's both easy to find and understand!

From basic tasks, to control of the virtual machines, to back up, there hasn't been anything I haven't found that I needed.
