Product Description
When VisiBroker is bundled with Netscape Navigator 4.0 and Oracle8, a huge market will be created for information on the VisiBroker standard. This sourcebook examines a complete life cycle of CORBA's VisiBroker implementation including analysis and design patterns that occur in distributed systems, basic and advanced client and server implementations, and performance considerations.

*Analysis and design in distributed object systems
*Basic and advanced VisiBroker for Java implementations
*Performance considerations and fine-tuning

3.0 out of 5 stars Good but you need JBuilder3, December 24, 1999
This book give a good explanation about the most famous ORB in the world, Visibroker. The short problem is that the writers don't explain how we have to integrate with a useful IDE. If you plain to buy this book, get Jbuilder first and enjoy it with Visibroker.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent book. Only BOA coverage though., February 17, 2000
By Sanu Padhi (San Jose, CA) - See all my reviews
The presentation of the book is great. I did not find the general CORBA section all that useful, but the later sections provided some valuable insights.

My main criticism is that the book is getting slightly dated. There is no coverage of the POA. The current edition is totally BOA based. A couple of chapters by the authors on using Visibroker to handle transactions would be really welcome as well. I am looking forward to the next edition.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book, Best CORBA Book so far ...., May 17, 2001
By A Customer
I have 3 CORBA books and this one is definitely the best. It teaches you CORBA from a practical point of view through the use of VisiBroker. The guy with 1 star recommendation nit-picking about typos and Visibroker version totally missed the point. As far as OMG CORBA specification is concerned, VisiBroker version does not make a difference. For me, I did not really want to learn VisiBroker as a product. I wanted to learn CORBA through VisiBroker. If you want to learn about CORBA with Java from a beginner or intermediate level, this book is the best I have read.

1.0 out of 5 stars The worst computer programming book I've ever read
I've been so unfortunate to buy this book a few weeks before it went out of print.

To start with, it is outdated, as it covers Visibroker 3 (not 4) and BOA (not POA). Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Help me port a Java/TCP app to Java/Visibroker
I had a Java/TCP app and quickly moved it to Java/Visibroker using this book. The book is very similar to The Official Visibroker for Java Handbook.
