5.0 out of 5 stars Super book for kids, beginners, i-Net+ prep, or just for fun!, September 2, 2000
By Loser (New Jersey) - See all my reviews
I have several certifications under my belt. I study frequently. This book was a great help in me making my career change from being a Technical Support Specialist to becoming a Web Developer. I am a Certified Technical Trainer and actually teach with this book, and send each of my students home with a copy to keep! This is not a book for experts obviously, but if you need to learn HTML with no prior experience or you are tweaking your skills as a beginner/intermediate user, this is the book for you. It delivers the information in a clear, simple and brief format. You do not even need to be sitting in front of a computer with this book. Many of my students read ahead at night, memorize the techniques and come in the next day way ahead of the others! Big clear pictures, all color pages, tear out reference charts and all for only $20! I should have given a review of this book last year when it first came out. This book is still completely relevant and is not outdated! Buy a copy without hesitating! You will learn HTML in less than a week! 30 day guarantee, you cannot lose! I also recommend for beginner/intermediate/advanced users "HTML 4 for the World Wide Web" -ISBN - 0-201-69696-7. It is only $18 and an excellent "Next Step" after this book. You can also use it as your very first book. It also makes an excellent desktop reference! 4.0 out of 5 stars A solid way to start learning HTML, May 13, 2000
By A Customer
I gave this book 4 stars only because an instruction book needs to fill all of my requirements to earn 5 stars. This book comes darn close.

The MaranGraphics instruction books for computer applications and education are generally superb for learning how to do something on a computer from scratch. This book will teach you how to program HTML and put up a very nice web site of your own.

My one gripe is that I would have liked to have worked on one project from the beginning, starting from blank page to finished web site, while seeing how each stage looks via the excellent graphics these books have. That was not the case. This book showed you the code, and what it's effect would be, but the pages were always different. Not something I could do and have it show just like in the book. Some of the other Maran Graphics books do just that.

Still, you won't go wrong if you pick this book to learn HTML. It is not the complete end all reference to HTML, but if you get that advanced you can buy one of those too.

4.0 out of 5 stars It sure helped me., September 4, 2002
By Guy M. Blasi (Highlands Ranch, CO USA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I was in the process of learning how to create web pages on a "What You See Is What You Get (WYSIWYG) program. I was a total and complete novice. While the program I was using really did most of the work, a lot of it was too technical for me. Enter this book. It helped through some very difficult areas, such as metatags, key words and the color chart codes on the first page were a huge help. And it's great for the novice or youngster. It has a cartoon/comic book appearance, but don't let that fool you. There's a lot to learn in this book. Highly recommeded for the HTML rookies (like me) of this world.
