Product Description

The expanded and updated guide to Michigan's best trout fishing streams

About the Author

Gerth E. Hendrickson was a member of Trout Unlimited and the Federation of Fly Fishers. He wrote numerous publications on trout streams. His purpose in writing this book was to tell anglers all they need to know about how to get the most enjoyment possible from fishing some of the best trout streams east of the Rockies. Jim DuFresne is an outdoor writer based in Clarkston, Michigan, and author of more than a dozen wilderness\travel guidebooks. DuFresne gave up the spinning rod for the fly rod in the mid-1980s and has never turned back. He contributed chapters on fly fishing in Lonely Planet's Tramping in New Zealand and Hiking in Alaska. He has written about fishing in his guidebooks on Isle Royale National Park and the Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park. --This text refers to an alternate Paperback edition.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best rivers in Michigan, March 15, 2003
By "duckrus1" (Battle Creek, MI) - See all my reviews
This guide was originally published in 1985 and has been a valuable resource as I have wandered around Northern Michigan. It's details are as factual today as when first written. The details of every launch and entrance to each river is remarkable. I've fished many of the spots and have found the descriptives to be right on. I just wish I was a better fly fisherman. I keep this book with me and even make notes in it. I highly recommend this for any experience level.

5.0 out of 5 stars 12 Classic Trout Streams in Michigan, July 6, 2009
If you go trout fishing in Michigan, this is the book you want to read. There's a lot of history included and the information provided about access points, river bottom, water depths, and current are invaluable. I carry this book with me when I go fishing in Michigan. This is a re-write of an earlier version of the book and the re-write is very well done.

Absolutely unique! Nothing else comes close to the coverage and expertise of the writer who was state hydrologist for the USGS.
