From Library Journal
Burgess's brief 1978 take on Hemingway is reprinted here as part of Thames & Hudson's revived "Literary Lives" series. This is little more than a photo-rich (116 in all), lightweight biography of the writer, although LJ's reviewer did enjoy the snippets of literary criticism squeezed in between the pictures (LJ 8/78). Though there are many better full-length biographies, this does provide a quick, concise introduction to the life and work of Hemingway, who would have celebrated his 100th birthday on July 21.
