Cai Randolph has implants in her brain that enable her link to the computers of the Unified Colonies of Earth to feed data to her Recep, the gorgeous Jake Tucker, captain of an elite Special Forces team. Her brilliant intellect and the disappearance of her parents have left her reclusive and friendless except for Jake, who thinks she is a computer. Cai now believes that her parents are being held captive on one of the floating Raft Cities, occupied by pirates, terrorists, and other lowlifes. When she learns that she is going to be assigned to go with Jake's team into the Raft Cities to capture the elusive Bonzai Maguire, and rescue a Navy SEAL commander, she knows her humanity will be revealed, as will her toughness. And sure enough, she proves to be just like the other heroines in the popular 2176 series: she can really kick butt and handle herself in the most adverse situations. Fabulous action sequences, an engaging and believable romance, and some of the most well-written lovemaking scenes of the year make the fourth entry in this exciting futuristic series terrific escapist reading.
