From School Library Journal
Grade 4-10-Basic introductory titles with a format suitable for both elementary students and teens with lower reading abilities. Fishing aptly covers bait, boat, fly, and big-game fishing. Necessary equipment for each type of sport is clearly noted along with clarifying photographs. Specialized equipment needed for fly-fishing and the casting techniques for the different types of reels are also included. The final chapter discusses the perfect fishing spot, rigging, baiting, casting, catching, and releasing fish. In Boating, separate chapters address man-powered boats (rowboats, canoes, and kayaks), powerboats, and sailboats. Techniques for maneuvering in the water are also covered. The two pages of safety tips and glossaries included in each book are particularly helpful. The clear, full-color photographs depict adults of both genders. Recommended primarily for libraries needing high-interest titles.
