Editorial Reviews
From School Library Journal

Gr 3-4--Another duet in the swelling series aimed at report writers and/or curious minds, using a format of inviting color photos, large type, and a judicious layout, with a list of further sources (including online sites) to round out a useful, nonthreatening package. Giraffes covers not only these engaging, long-necked mammals but also their rarer relation, the okapi. Physiology, habitat, and life styles are explored (though the unusual makeup of the giraffe's horns is omitted). Llamas does much the same for these South American cousins of the camel, with some information included on the other South American lamoids (alpaca, guanaco, and vicuna). Even if you have Caroline Arnold's colorful Giraffe (1987) or Llama (1988, both Morrow), or Helen Sattler's superb Giraffes (Lothrop, 1990) on your shelves, you might still want copies of these colorful titles to freshen up your collection.
