Gr. 3-5. For younger readers, this readable, attractively designed photo-essay in the Picture-Story Biographies series will introduce the life of Mandela and the struggle against apartheid. The style is clear, the tone is adulatory, the type is large, and the well-chosen photos are nicely reproduced on glossy paper. Unfortunately, there are no sources at all, which is a poor model for students' own writing, but kids will grab this both for personal interest and for those first biography assignments.
