The effect is pure Andersen with the beautiful language resonating through Dench's skillful reading. For listeners who have never heard "The Little Mermaid," Dench's reading of the description of the sea witch's lair is chilling. The old soldier of "The Tinderbox" is crafty and world-weary by turns as Dench recreates the spirit of Andersen's tales. I bought this for my Kindle and removed it within minutes. The table of contents does NOT link to the stories. The book title on my Kindle home page even has gibberish characters. This is a careless and sloppy adaptation. Stay away from this offering until at least someone fixes the issues mentioned. Even at $.99 this is overpriced.

An impressive version of beloved fairy tales. Easy to comprehend for children, and beautifully illustrated.
The only regret is that some of the well known fairly tales are missing in this selection. Otherwise, I do recommend it.
