5.0 out of 5 stars Great classic comics compilation to pass on to future generations....., September 27, 2005
I recently purchased a HC 1976 edition via online auction. The original softcover edition I treasured when I was 11 years old was given to an ecstatic young nephew last year. My latest copy has a tattered dustjacket but the pages inside are immaculate. Superman's origin is the Bronze age/Curt Swan illustrated version. Classic Batman by Bob Kane. Golden age Wonder Woman by Charles Moulton and a Bronze age WW vs. Nubia story by Bates/Colletta. Golden and Silver age: Flash, Green Lantern, Hawkman, Green Arrow (Silver age illustrated by Kirby.), and the Atom. Finally SHAZAM! and Plastic Man. It's great to see younger generations rediscovering the classics. Though crude by today's illustration standards, the Golden and Silver age stories are still as enthralling as ever. Terrific cover art by Neal Adams. Highly recommended and immensely collectible.
