Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly

Inspiration is the key to a memorable Christmas season, says Stewart at the start of this collection of recipes and projects for assembling the mostly easy gifts and decorations culled from the last four years worth of Martha Stewart Living magazine. Some of the ideas seem drawn from the far edge of inspiration: tiny boxes made from acorns, sanded and stained and stopped with corks; a living wreath fashioned from 20 kinds of succulent plants; starfish and other shells studded with silver dragees; gift wrapping made from brown paper lunch bags sealed with decorative machine-stitching. Some processes, like gift tags and cards printed with potato stamps, go back to techniques taught in grade school, but even these are given new life by Stewart's sophisticated eye and careful execution. Clear instructions and tempting photos accompany every holiday treat, from porch swags to pomander bowls and candles, rolled, dipped or molded. A list of sources for materials is included.

5.0 out of 5 stars Make your Christmas one "from the heart"., December 9, 1996
By A Customer
Martha Stewart presents some of the most beautiful and creative ideas to make Chirstmas special. Her gift and wrapping ideas allow for the kind of creativity that will make each gift truly special and "from the heart".The decorating ideas she presents are truly beautiful and have given rise to many new holiday traditions in our home and in the homes of the many friends that have borrowed this book from me. The fact that she provides the names and addresses of the mail order houses she gets her supplies from for all of the wonderful things she shows in the book is a god-send.

5.0 out of 5 stars My first Martha Stewart book, December 6, 2002

I have used many of these projects and loved it. The ribbon trays I have given as gifts were well received, and once I got the glass cut, were just gorgeous. I found baskets on sale one day, and they just all came together, not as expensive as I thought. I think the ribbon cost the most, but still, a really great gift for not a lot of money in my case. Recipes, of course, and things like candlemaking are showcased here. So glad I bought it!
