Product Description
How Not to Stay Single is a step-by-step program full of helpful hints, explicit goal-setting instructions, eye-opening anecdotes, and motivational thoughts. Each chapter includes an action plan--actual assignments for the reader to complete as part of the process of gaining confidence, improving self-esteem, and increasing dating opportunities. Readers are asked to apply the same principles to finding a mate that have gotten them ahead in business: planning, perseverance, effort, and time.

This results-oriented book teaches you that wanting a relationship is nothing to be ashamed of, that staying in a dead-end relationship will keep you from finding a thriving one, that there are simple and effective ways to increase the odds of meeting the right kind of people, and that you're a good catch and you shouldn't hide it.

How Not to Stay Single presents a unique plan of action for finding that elusive, emotionally fulfilling attachment. It shows you how to stop waiting for a relationship and how to start making it happen. Unlike other relationship books, this book is about changing what you're doing, not about changing you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Terrific and Insightfull!!!, October 6, 1999
By "don_macek" (San Jose, CA) - See all my reviews
I thought the author did a good job of getting to the point of why people are single who really don't want to be. I particularly liked when she dispelled the myth that most people don't find their mate "when they are looking for one", and gave instructions on how to get into situations to find that special someone.

Overall the book had a very common sense approch. What she suggests for us single people to do is things I either needed a refresher course in, or just plain never thought about. Highly recomended reading.

4.0 out of 5 stars Helpful In A General Way, March 9, 2001

Do you need some motivation to get out there and find your mate? Well look no further. Nita Tucker's How Not To Stay Single is a very good remedy for the Lonely Hearts Blues. Nita lists some basic suggestions where to go to meet quality people. She also emphasizes to do what you feel comfortable with and not what someone else may like.

What really makes this book stand strong is her no excuses attitude that exists through all the chapters. She encourages both men and women that the only way to meet your partner is to take chances and risks. Sitting home alone and hiding from the world is not going to help. Put yourself in the position to win in as many scenarios as possible and keep an open mind for what is your type. Most people do not know their own type yet they pick and pick and pick. This is not beneficial to anybody. Just get out there and deal with whatever rejection is the basic premise. For me it makes plenty of sense.

I don't give it the full five stars because among the list of questions to break the ice are several negative questions(What is your biggest failure?) which should not be explored in the initial meeting process. Nita should clearly distinguish this. Also, a little more detail to handle varying situations of rejection and initial date blues would be helpful. Nita does do a good job with handling problems that come up in established relationships. She should do a little better job with some of the initial awkward moments other than play rah rah cheerleader.

None the less, this book is very good as a basic Self Help Book. Her lectures are even more entertaining and in person Nita Tucker is one funny and charming lady.

3.0 out of 5 stars See if you can borrow this..., January 9, 2003

But I don't recommend actually buying it. Tucker just basically rehashes what other books have said before. The end-of-chapter excercises are helpful and do provide you with some soul searching material. But you'd be better off borrowing it from someone or visiting the library that wasting your money on it.

But, if you want to buy a book on getting out of 'singledom,' I suggest 'If I'm So Great, Why Am I still Single.'by Susan Page. It's a much better book in dealing with the issue of 'don't want to be single-dom.
